Divemaster
 

The Divemaster program is the first step to becoming a professional in the PADI System of Diver Education. This rating signifies:

  • A high level of personal diving skills
  • Instructor level knowledge in diving theory
  • Significant training in how to assist an instructor during training activities
  • Ability to guide and assist certified divers 

 

The title DIVEMASTER says it all ... you are the cream of the crop! This course is divided into three phases:

  • Watermanship, stamina and skills assessment
  • Knowledge and diving theory development
  • Practical application and various scenarios 

 

Our PADI Divemaster course is very demanding, challenging and at the same time... FUN!

Once certified as a PADI Divemaster you are qualified to:

  • Supervise participants in PADI experience programs
  • Generally supervise both training and non-training related diving activities
  • Teach and certify Skin Divers
  • Conduct PADI Scuba Review for certified divers
  • Enroll in PADI Assistant Instructor or the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) 

 

As a professional member of PADI you'll receive many valuable benefits as a Dive Professional including:  A subscription to the Undersea Journal (PADI's dive industry magazine), regular Training Bulletin updates, access to PADI promotional aids, educational materials and professional liability insurancee.

 

Course Standards

Prerequisite certification:

PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent level certification with another recreational scuba training organization

Prerequisite dives

Have been a certified diver for at least 6 months with 60 logged dives and have documentation of experience in deep, night and navigation diving.

Medical clearance
 

Signed by a physician, within the previous 12 months 

 Minimum age

IDC Phase One: Learn the PADI System of Diver Education
ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR - 3-day course

 

The PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first portion of the IDC and can be completed in as little as three days. During the course, you gain additional experience while continuing to learn the PADI system of diver education. PADI's AI course adds to your abilities as a dive professional, while giving you the necessary tools to finish the IDC in the OWSI program.

 

PADI AI's give classroom and pool presentations and evaluate PADI Open Water Diver course surface skills (under direct supervision of a PADI instructor). AI's also teach some PADI specialty courses, conduct PADI Discover Scuba experiences and can conduct PADI Seal Team Aqua missions.

 

 The PADI Assistant Instructor course topics:

  • Learning, instruction, and the PADI System
  • Developing Knowledge Development Presentations
  • Teaching Project AWARE and Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialties
  • PADI Discover SCUBA and Snorkeling Programs
  • Teaching in confined water

IDC Phase Two: Become an Independent Scuba Instructor
PADI OWSI Instructor Development Course

 

The rest of the IDC, the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor Program, is the final development step in your quest to become a PADI Instructor. During the IDC, you learn to manage and adapt the PADI System of diver education to individual student needs Comprehensive training supported by a wide variety of PADI educational materials, earn PADI Instructors respect from both students and peers.

The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor rating sets you apart from the crowd. PADI Instructors may conduct the entire range of PADI programs - from Discover Scuba through Divemaster.
