TIPS FOR TRAVELERS
Access by plane is via San Juan, Puerto Rico, via Antigua or via St. Thomas. There are no direct international flights. Several airlines fly to San Juan, one of the busiest hubs in the Caribbean. Cape Air & Seaborne have daily flights to Tortola from San Juan. International airlines arriving in Antigua offer links to the BVI with Liat. Most flights to the BVI land at Terrence B. Lettsome airport on Beef Island which is connected to the eastern coast of Tortola by a short bridge only nine miles east of Road Town. The airport code is EIS.
It is an easy ferry ride to the BVI from St. Thomas where Delta, American, Seaborne, and Cape Air all frequent. If you are traveling via ferry to the BVI you will arrive in either the West End or Road Town ferry terminals and can then taxi to your overnight accommodation on Tortola. Taxi-fares are standardized based on the destination & number of passengers. There are also several rental car agencies. To rent a vehicle, you will need a valid license from your home territory. Don’t forget – we drive on the left.
