Closed for September

We will be closing for all of September for the BVI storm season, and a much needed break for our staff. We will be resuming normal business hours starting October 1st. We will be checking emails intermittently so please email us your reservation requests. See you in October!

Record Certifications Summer of 2018

That dive was Jive! We’ve had an amazing summer with the Sail Caribbean Teen Programs and learned some new coloquialisms. We are excited that so many students joined us this summer in the wake of the storms. The diving has been great, marine life prolific ( including an epic Remorra encounter last week). Every summer Sail Caribbean, our sister company, brings hundreds of students down to the British Virgin Islands to get a taste Read more…

Sail Caribbean Divers Always Optimistic

“When you have vision, it affects your attitude. Your attitude is optimistic rather than pessimistic.”– Charles R. Swindoll “We are open for business” a mantra that we have now been professing for some time, in spite of the catastrophic effects of Hurricane Irma and Maria in September. We encourage our loyal dive community, to support the local businesses and re-visit our marine playgrounds. Come see for yourselves how the forces of nature have (subtly) reconfigured Read more…

Road To Recovery

We are rebuilding slowly but surely. Mike & Melisande are back on Tortola after a break from the storms. Repairs & renovations continue. We are hoping for an early December re-open and will keep everyone posted as we get closer to an actual DATE. Thanks to all for your continued support. We couldn’t have gotten this far without you. PLEASE NOTE: Our old land lines are still submerged in seawater, so don’t call them or Read more…

Hurricane Irma

First off we would like to thank you all for your concern and support. We are happy to say that the SCD team is alive and well but we are temporarily closed for repairs and recovery. We will let you know as soon as we are able to take you diving! For our most current update please follow us on Facebook.

So it Begins

It’s that time of year again folks! Summer is finally upon us, the wind drops and the AC bill goes up. For most tourist based professions this would be the time to close down for the end of season and twiddle our thumbs for 6 weeks waiting for the tourists to come back. We at SCD are lucky enough to have our sister company, Sail Caribbean, to keep us busy during the summer months. To Read more…

The Year in Review

How time flies, another year has passed under the SCD banner in the BVI. Slowly but surely over the last 20 odd years our company has grown from a handful of divers to a full fledged army of baby blue clad diving professionals, now sporting a record high 24 staff members. We are proud to announce that all of our interns that attempted the May IDC were successful. Congratulations to new Instructors Matt, Shelby, and Read more…

The Skill Review

All of the teenagers who come on the Sail Caribbean summer program focus on specific areas of diving; some take their first breathes underwater with a Discover Scuba Course or an Open Water certificate.  Many others, especially those teenagers returning for a second or third program, will focus on more specialized dive courses, Advanced Open Water, EFR and First Aid, Rescue Diver and on the Charlie Program all kinds of specialty courses.  Before any of Read more…

Ginger Steps

An excellent dive site.  We chose Ginger Steps as the first site after the Bravo, Foxtrot and Sierra programs had finished their Open Water courses.  The reef has various coral heads, that give way to big ledges and a sandy plateau, then another band of coral heads slopes down further to another sandy plateau, then a third ‘step’ takes you all the way to 100 feet on one of the deeper dive sites in the BVI.  Read more…
