Enjoy fishing during your BVI adventure with SCD’s fishing equipment rentals and local guidance.
Important: Anyone 18 or older who fishes in the BVI must have a valid recreational fishing license.

Fishing permits can take up to 10 days business days to process.
Recreational fishing licenses are required for anyone 18 or older and are issued by the BVI Ministry of Conservation & Fisheries. Permits are valid for one month
How to Apply
1. Complete the forms (Credit Card Authorization & Application for Pleasure Fishing)
Download the required fishing application and payment form.
2. Prepare Your Documents
Provide color copies of your passport photo and signature pages.
3. Email Your Application ***
Send all documents to fishing@sailcaribbeandivers.com
Please allow for 24 hours in response to your application.
4. Allow Up to 10 Business Days (2 Weeks)
Payment must be received before processing. Your completed permit will be emailed to you.
5. Your Fishing License will be emailed
Once we recieve the approved license from the BVI Fisheries department we will email it directly to you.
***Failing to provide all necessary documents may result in the delay of your application.
Planning to Rent Fishing Equipment?
Fishing Rods
Our fishing rods are equipped for your BVI adventure and come with a dedicated tackle box containing the appropriate gear for fishing around the islands.
Trolling Rods
Our trolling setups are designed for fishing while cruising between destinations and include a dedicated trolling tackle box. Rod holders are also available for installation on your charter boat, making it easy to set up your trolling gear while underway.
Gaffs
Gaffs are available as an optional add-on rental for customers who need additional equipment for their fishing setup.

Fishing FAQ
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. Anyone 18 or older fishing in the BVI must have a valid recreational fishing license. We recommend applying well in advance, as permits can take up to 10 business days to process.
What fishing equipment can I use?
Fishing must be conducted using rod, reel, line, and fishing hooks only. SCD offers fishing and trolling rods with tackle, plus optional rod holders and gaffs.
Where do I pick up my fishing equipment?
Fishing equipment is available for pickup at the SCD retail store. Please have your required fishing permit ready when collecting your equipment.
Is spearfishing allowed?
No. Spearfishing is strictly prohibited under this license. Fishing must be conducted using a rod, reel, line, and fishing hooks only.
Please do not attempt to spearfish. Violations can result in significant fines and penalties.
What can I NOT catch or keep?
You may not take snapper or other bottom-dwelling fish, lobster, turtles, conch, whelks, sharks, or rays.
Can I fish for billfish?
Yes, but catch-and-release only. This includes Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Swordfish, and similar species.
How much fish can I keep?
A maximum of 30 lbs of fish per boat may be caught or kept.
