PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE INTERNSHIP IS FOR PADI DIVE PROFESSIONALS

During the last eight years over seventy people have completed the professional experience internship program. Candidates have come from varying backgrounds & experience levels, even some from our Continuing Education internship. All participants have gained invaluable experience within the dive industry. Many of our interns have found industry employment in the Caribbean, Caymans, Thailand, and Australia.

Acceptance into this program is not an offer of employment or IDC placement. It is, however, a unique first hand experience with the inner workings of a PADI 5 Star Dive Center. We are the only dive center in the BVI with a resident Course Director. Mike Rowe has been in the diving industry for over 23 years and has successfully qualified over 400 instructors. Everyone dreams about it, you can be a part of it!

All candidates get Seamanship training on board our fleet of four Newton Dive Boats, and participate in everything our full time staff do every day. This is a comprehensive industry experience that will give you exposure to every facet of a dive business, including but not limited to:

• Experience/training compressor operation
• Experience/training to guide divers and snorkelers
• Assisting with PADI courses
• Assisting divers and snorkelers with travel plans & making reservations
• Experience assisting divers with equipment selection, rental and gear purchases
• Experience in maintaining boats and scuba equipment
• Training in scuba retail management, retail, inventory and operating a scuba Point of Sale system.

One Month Programs are available every month except September and October. This program is geared to newly qualified dive professionals who want to gain industry experience before launching their scuba careers.

We accept two candidates into our programs each month. Candidates must be PADI Dive Professionals (minimum level: PADI DiveMaster) before enrolling. Qualified individuals will join us for 30 days in a non-paid professional level internship position and will be included as a trainee on our team for 5-6 days a week. The remaining time interns are free to dive, relax and enjoy the island pace or study for further educational courses.

Only Available in May & August – This program is great for Divemasters or Assistant Instructors who want to enroll in the IDC program but feel they need a bit more industry experience or an industry refresher before getting started.  Candidates arrive two weeks before the IDC to hone skills while participating in our daily diving activities, and our full time staff are on hand for any assistance you need with the IDC Pre Study.

TWO WEEK POST-IDC & MSDT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM 

Two week programs are available after each IDC Program in May & August. This program is geared to newly qualified dive instructors who want to become more attractive to potential employers. In this program we combine the Master Scuba Diver Trainer course with one of our incredibly popular Internship programs. At the end of this program you will leave with the ability to teach at least 5 specialty courses, and gain valuable experience working in a PADI 5 Star Facility.
